Asked often
Before you write
- Can I order a car through this site?
- No. This is a technical study of one model, not a retail channel. There is no build tool, no pricing tool, and no ordering path anywhere on it. A car of this specification is allocated through an official Porsche Centre.
- Is the Weissach package required to get the figures quoted here?
- No. The aerodynamic numbers — 409 kg of downforce at 200 km/h, 860 kg at 285 km/h — are properties of the standard RS bodywork and apply with or without the package. Weissach changes mass, not airflow: roughly fifteen kilograms, and a 1,430 kg kerb weight in place of 1,450 kg.
- Why is there no manual gearbox?
- The seven-speed PDK is shorter-geared than the GT3’s and shifts faster than a hand can. On a car developed against a lap time, a third pedal costs time and mass without returning either. The manual remains available in the GT3 and the GT3 Touring.
- Does the DRS operate automatically?
- Both. There is a button on the steering wheel for manual actuation, and an automatic function that opens the flap in the high-downforce setting once speed, throttle and steering angle are all inside the defined window. It closes the moment you brake.
- Where was this car developed?
- At the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach, and validated on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where the 992 GT3 RS lapped the 20.832 km configuration in 6:49.328.
